Color us VERY surprised that this one isn't a P-Bandai release; Bandai has really outdone themselves to make this completely distinct from the first 2 Zaku II RGs! The distinctive characteristics of the High Mobility MSV Zaku II units have all been preserved, especially those of Johnny Ridden's suit! The bold leg thrusters have been crafted in exquisite detail, and special Johnny Ridden marking stickers are also included. The Giant Bazooka is here in all its glory, and the arm and hand parts have been recast in the correct large size for this larger machine. This is going to be one imposing kit!

If only it can stand on its own two feet.

Real Grade Zakues are impressive; but then you realize that they are Master Grades in HGUC form. So you'll get A TON of tiny parts. Like; they'll end up in your carpet and you'll never find them ever again.

John Rid's Zaku IIR is impressive and imposing once you finally manage to build it. And you didn't lose any parts. But its front skirt flaps are super-fragile. And, like I said, it's unable to stand properly. Which is sad because it's a real grade and real grades are impressive kits in general.

      A mixed bag

A mixed bag of a kit. Like most RG's its got a ton of parts and detail, like an automatically rotating monoeye, a cockpit, spring cables for the legs, etc. The holding pegs for the guns are even able to be rotated in and out. However, it also has its fair share of problems. The wrists are the worst; there's a "plate" at the end of the forearm which just rattles around loose with no way to connect it. The legs have a very limited bend, the torso joints sag and refuse to hold any pose that puts much weight on them, and the included rifle's stock is so large and awkward that its hard for the suit to hold it. The heat hawk is attached via a peg in the hand, but is behind held oddly high up along the handle and looks odd.

Its not terrible by any means but it comes with a fair number of asterisks about its quality, so be prepared to accept those compromises.
