Mr. Color has become distinguished as the easiest paint to use over the years and has gained praise for its quality from modelers all over the world.

The balance and luster of the color assure that the final product will be a thing of beauty. All the colors are rich and the paint is compatible with most hobby materials. Even for precision military modelers, the paint is true enough to life that you’ll be able to create the most accurate scale reproduction possible.

When using an airbrush, you should dilute using a 2:1 thinner-to-paint ratio and spray on 2-3 even coats. Please note this is lacquer paint and should not be used to hand paint!

    PRODUCT DETAILS
    • Mr. Color lacquer series.
    • Mr. Color is the standard model paint that has been around for over 40 years and is highly regarded by modelers worldwide.
    • 10ml

    Product Features:
    • A wide range of colors is available, suitable for painting various model genres, including characters, scales (tanks, planes, ships), and more.
    • The pigments and metallic particles used offer excellent color vibrancy, often superior to water-based paints (especially metallic and blue paints).
    • As a solvent-based paint, it dries quickly.
    • The paint film becomes hard after drying, providing a beautiful glossy finish.
    • The resin used has a solid, thick texture, forming an optimal paint film.
    • Compared to water-based paints, the paint has a higher viscosity. When using a brush, if the paint is difficult to apply, add Mr. Color Thinner (recommended ratio: paint:thinner = 1:up to 1). Additionally, adding a few drops of Mr. Retarder Mild can slow the drying speed and reduce brush marks.
    • For airbrush painting, thin the paint with a ratio of paint 1:thinner up to 2, depending on the paint’s viscosity. When using an airbrush, apply a light coat on the first pass and build up thin layers with the second and third coats.

Adjusting Gloss, Semi-Gloss, and Matte Finishes:
    • Mr. Color glossy paints can have their gloss levels adjusted using C30 Flat Base. For a semi-gloss finish, mix about 5-10% Flat Base with the paint.
    • For a matte finish, mix 10-20% Flat Base. By adjusting the amount of Flat Base, you can customize the glossiness of the finish.

High quality paint that doesn't scratch easily

This brand of paints is quite easy to work with. Although this paint is best used with an airbrush, you can technically hand-brush with this brand of paint given that you thin the paints first with the Mr. Color Leveling Thinner and brush in multiple coats. If you want to go through this route, be warned that you have to clean your brushes thoroughly as well and that even with multiple coats you may have visible brush strokes (hence, airbrush is the best). Personally, hand brushing with this paint should be fine if you are painting a small part that does not have a lot of surface detail.

      Recommended for Airbrushing

These are great paints to use if you have a air brush. Usually take me 2 coats to get the color fully fleshed out, but it's worth it.

      Amazing lacquer paints

These are really great paints for hand-brush painting gunpla with a nice finish. As with all non-acrylic paints they do have a pungent smell to them, particularly since it's lacquer base. At $3.95 these are fairly expensive since I have easily found these for $2.50 - $2.99 from other online hobby stores.

      Great finish

Have recently started using Mr. Color paints(I have more experience with Vallejo acrylics) and have been very pleased with the results. They cover better than most other paints I have used. Great variety of colors, the semi gloss looks perfect on Gundam models.

I use only the “Mr.” brand of thinners and tool cleaners. They work very well, give great results.
