      Outdated But Useful

As a thirteen year old kit, the Gundam Tristan leaves a lot to be desired when compared to modern kits. The engineering is outdated since it's basically a redress of the Gundam ALEX. Still, the styling and design are quite nice. I've been using mine to retrofit the new Beyond Global RX-78-2, using the BG Gundam as a framework to lend it's superior articulation to the design of the Tristan. As a straight build, the Tristan is simple, so good for beginners and a decent canvas to practice paint techniques. For more advanced builders, I recommend getting this kit to use in customs, as it's design is classic late Universal Century era.

Some don't like this, imagine that.

Like the Alex but don't like bits of it? This is basically the advanced "new"Alex. Shield is good, slightly pose-able, but is very bland. Good for beginners.

Love the Gundam, HATE the kit.

I absolutely love the design of the AN-01: its a better, meaner Alex that takes the best parts of the 78 lineup and puts it into practice. And the big meaty shield? Gorgeous. It also probably has one of the coolest head units out there!

Then why do I hate the kit?

Because my older GM Commands made in 2004 have more articulation than this garbage-made paperweight. For a 2017 kit, this is a failure on so many levels. I actually broke by accident the left shoulder-guard due to how lazily they made it (it clips onto the torso's arm-pegs using a square cutout made by the connected 2 shoulder parts). The leg movement is minimal, the waist is a joke, and the quality of parts makes the 08th MS team kits seem quality (THATS BAD). Also, can we talk about how lazily made the backpack is on this unit?

      Extremely disappointed in this kit.

      Really don't recommend

I bought this just to see for myself how bad is it, and to practice modding on afterwards. It really is a dissappointing kit. It's essentially a kit from the early 2000's, but released as "brand new" in 2017.

It has outdated joints, large number of obnoxious seamlines, and quite a few hollow parts/features. I do sorta like how the gundam looks overall, but not enuf to be ok with the build quality. The plastic felt really cheap too. Up til this review, this is the only kit I've cut myself on while building, which makes me convinced this kit is cursed.

I know some builders follow the stance "there are no bad kits", but honestly none of them can convince me this isn't bad and it's a bit disconcerting they're trying to make excuses for this being an acceptable kit.

      Gundams for life!!

Ive bought this model at the convention at la and bought it, because it looked like a sibling from the Alex. yes there is some limited joint movement, but the over all of this model is excitement five stars for me. never tell people that they're models are bad or suck, for anyone who say things like that are not Gundam fans just haters.
